TIONG BAHRU: The Exhibition

Taking place at the Tiong Bahru market from Saturday 2nd October to Sunday 10th October, the TIONG BAHRU photo exhibition documented the three days in June 2010 when Tiong Bahru market and hawker centre was transformed into a movie set, with the help of UK-based filmmakers Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor, and 150 volunteers from the community. Featuring over 50 beautiful images by production photographers Samantha Tio and Alecia Neo, the exhibition celebrated the community spirit of our volunteers, without which the project would not have been possible.

The resulting film, TIONG BAHRU, was screened at the National Museum of Singapore at 7.30 pm every Tuesday night in October 2010.

Thanks to Tiong Bahru resident John Common for the image.
