Writing The City in the news and news about Writing The City

WRITING THE CITY is a creative writing programme conceived to complement TIONG BAHRU and encourage new writers to find inspiration in the peoples and places that surround us every day.

Over six episodes filmed across Singapore, authors Jeremy Sheldon and Suchen Christine Lim will talk you through the ideas of characterisation, setting, atmosphere, and the concepts of space, time and memory and how these relate to your writing. You will be set a creative writing task at the end of each programme and you can post your response to the task on a dedicated site, becoming part of a growing online, mutually supportive community of writers, exploring the city and its communities.

Listen to a two-part interview with Jeremy and Suchen on Singapore’s The Living Room (938 Live) through the links below, in which they talk about the project, the priciples of good creative writing and taking the plunge!
