A family unravelling in A Family Portrait

Joseph Pierce is an animator/filmmaker with a background in film, theatre and experimental art. He graduated with an MA in Animation Direction from the UK’s National Film and Television School (NFTS), with his graduation film, STAND UP, winning awards and appearing at film festivals around the world.

Since graduating he has produced animated visuals in theatre for the Royal Opera House, National Theatre and the New York Met Opera.

His latest film, A FAMILY PORTRAIT, depicts a sitting for a family photograph going horribly wrong as secrets and jealousy bubble to the surface under the photographer’s watchful gaze.

The film strikingly uses the rotoscoping technique that Pierce first used in STAND UP.
